Concert Poster No Doubt

For the poster No Doubt I did a couple of different designs and individual posters. I decided to post two of them because I thought these were my favorite ones and I felt I did the best on these two. For the one poster I did individual text boxes as the back round and then colored in all of them to blend together. This was kind of hard to figure out because I had to make all the colors blend together nicely and make sure that each box worked. For the other poster, I did a gradient back round and use two different colors to create the final back round.

For both posters I worked in Photo Shop first, then transferred then whole image into Quark. I altered the picture of the band in Photo Shop using different techniques and magic erase tool to cut out the back round. In both posters I had trouble getting the images to erase and cut the back round out. A couple of the band members got their heads cut off and I didn’t know how to fix this. Over all, I still think they both look good even though the pictures are not too well put together. I from there went into Quark and played around with the text boxes and using different kinds of fonts. I did not have any layers beside the one that I used. I overlapped everything and using the texts boxes to over lap over the picture. I was kind of confused that there were not layers like there were in Photo Shop. After I played around with it for a while I got the hang of it.

I really worked hard on both of these posters. All together I did four posters. I had a lot of fun just playing around with Quark trying new things. I really enjoyed doing this assignment.

PowerPoint Presentation

The PowerPoint presentation I chose the band Slightly Stoopid. I did five slides, which included info and pictures of the band. For the first slide I did had interesting facts about the band and fun pictures on it. I had each bullet fade out and used the brush on color for the effect. This was a little hard at first to figure out the custom animation, but after I figured it out it made it much easier to use it for the other slides. The second slide I had one of the bands album, Closer to the Sun, and all its songs titles and track times. At first I used the album cover as the back round but it didn't look good and I decided to just have a small picture of the album instead. I also created a 3 color gradient for all the back rounds of all the slides. It was fun to create this and play around with each slide. For the third slide I did a comparison chart on different bands and artist. On the chart I had the band, where they were from, their influence and their hit songs; all in comparison to one another. The last slide I arranged a bunch of pictures of the band and had them all fly using the custom animation. This was a fun effect and I felt it tied the whole powerpoint presentation together.

I am very proud of this project and learned a lot from it. I also had a lot of fun doing it. I am most proud of my comparison chart with all the different bands. I did one chart first then decided I did not like it and wanted to add more to it. In the end, I had each tile, band, and category all come in at different times. I had to make a separate chart to figure this out. It took me a while but I finally ended up with a great result.

Collage Video

For this collage video I chose these photos because I thought they went well with my font poem. The coloring of the photos adjusted well with the colors of the font poem. I started with a black back round and then slowly added the words in as well as the collage. Both of them fade in together and the opacity gets brighter as they fade in. I am really happy with this video and I think it turned out really good. The only thing that I would do differently would be to add the collage photos one at a time into the video then the words in. I couldn't figure out how to do this, but next time if I do something like this I will try to do it. Other than that I am extremely happy with it.
