Bid In Cards

QUARK
For the Bid in Cards it took a lot of time to get everything right. This was defenitly the most time consuming project we have had in this class. Indesign was the easist to use. I really did not like Quark at all. In Indesign the tools were more acsessable and easy to find where as in Quark it made it harder to find the tools you needed. I had a hard time curning the letters in Indesign but once I found the tool in was 10 times easier. In quark it took me so long to find the tool I couldn't find it for a couple of days so I had to postpone doing the heading for a while. After I found the tool it was just as easy as Indesign. Finding the magazine cover was a little hard but after I went on the Nylon website I figured it out. I really had a hard time finding fonts for the cards. On my card there were so many different fonts that it made it hard to find the exact ones. If I had more time to work on these cards then I would have concentrated more on the fonts and making sure I had the exact ones. Overall I feel like I did a good job and made it look almost the same as the original. In the end I did like this project even though it took a lot of time. I still feel like I learned a lot from this project.Web Site for Brochure

For my online brochure of Cirque du Soleil, I went with a simple yet clean and elegant look. The lay out is basic but it is easy to find everything on the home page as well as on the other pages. I decided to choose a color scheme of black, pink, and blue. The other pages: About, Ticket, and Contact are highlighted in these colors. On the home page there are colorful pictures that show scenes of Cirque du Soleil. On the top of the Home page there is About, Ticket, and Contact. Then at then bottom of the page there is the Belgio Hotel at Las Vegas and this is where the show O is being preformed. O is one of the many Cirque du Soleil shows. The other pages are simple as well but give a lot of information about the show and where you can buy tickets.

Brochure

For my Brochure my partner and I decided to do Cirque Du Soleil at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. This is something that my partner and I are really interested in Cirque Du Soleil and I hope some day I will be able to go see it. We wanted to use bright colors and pictures to demonstrate how lively of a performance it is. We were hoping to achieve a professional, yet fun look for the brochure. I feel we have successfully achieved this goal.

Concert Poster No Doubt

For the poster No Doubt I did a couple of different designs and individual posters. I decided to post two of them because I thought these were my favorite ones and I felt I did the best on these two. For the one poster I did individual text boxes as the back round and then colored in all of them to blend together. This was kind of hard to figure out because I had to make all the colors blend together nicely and make sure that each box worked. For the other poster, I did a gradient back round and use two different colors to create the final back round.

Contact Sheet

For my first line of my contact sheet, I was lucky to find a 1200dpi from fliker.com. This made it easier because I didn’t have to search very hard and I also didn’t have to change the resolution of the photo. I was quickly able to reduce the resolution to 600dpi. It was interesting to see the difference between the 600dpi and the 1200dpi. Then after making the photo 300dpi I could definitely see a change in the photo, where as the 600dpi photo hadn’t change too much. Comparing all three images next to one another was very interesting and I could see the difference in all of them.
The second line was a little bit more challenging. I found it hard to get a really good colorful picture that I liked on both websites. I had a hard time figuring out how to change the photo to Color CMYK. I also had to change the size of the photo to make sure that it wasn’t 1inch taller. I found it easier to change the photo to Color RGB because the process was the same, but just clicking on a different color format. The Duotone was fun in a way because I go to play around with the different colors, but I had a hard time finding a color that would work best with the picture. After I dragged each photo to the contact page, I made the mistake by not putting them in the right spot. I had to copy and paste each image until I got it right.
The third line was very easy. I found a great image on morguefile.com. Cropping each photo I had to be careful and to make sure that each image was the right size. The portrait and square came out great, but the landscape I had trouble with because I didn’t make it the right size. I realized the sizing wasn’t right after I thought I was done, but I fixed it and it looks great. Also all my images in the last row were slightly cut off by the margin. I had to make to frame of the contact sheet bigger to make sure that each image fits on the page.
The fourth line we had to focus on framing. I had a hard time understanding how to do it. I also, couldn’t find a great picture that was 1200 resolution. It took me most of the class to find a good picture for this line. I finally got a picture, then started to frame it, but I couldn’t figure out how to get the cropping tool up on my tool bar. I finally had to go up to tools and select it. After this I did pretty good, except for when I didn’t make all the pictures 1 height. I had to go back and redo all of them. This was frustrating, but in the end I got it to all work out.
The fifth line was focused on content of the picture. This was hard because you had to making sure that the last picture was abstract. I first started off with another picture. After realizing that it wasn’t a very good photo to use because the resolution wasn’t high enough. I had to start over and choose a different photo. This took me about 10mins to do. It’s sometimes hard to get a really good photo, and it can be frustrating. After I got the right photo it was all down hill from there.
Last but not least, the sixth line was a lot of fun to do. I had a lot of fun playing with the different tools to make to photo appear differently. My favorite one was the Dry Brush tool and then Artistic-Palette Knife. I choose an elephant photo. I thought it was interesting to see how all the different tools appeared on the elephant. This was one of my favorite things that we did on this contact sheet. Over all, really enjoyed doing this, and I thought it was a great way to introduce this course. I am really looking forward learn new things and experience this course.
